On Saturday, October 28, 2006 Senior Corporal Antonio DiAlessandro, 38, lost his 2 year battle with lung disease.
He underwent a double lung transplant at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. The need for the transplant arose from an earlier bout with Hodgkin’s Disease.
Senior Corporal DiAlessandro had undergone many surgeries.|
He was appointed to the Delaware State Police on November 12, 1993. After completing training he was assigned to Troop 3, Camden. During Cpl/2 DiAlessandro’s tenure at Troop 3, he worked patrol, canine trooper and a member of the Governor’s Task Force. He was Troop 3’s 2000 Trooper of the Year and was the recipient of four departmental awards; including a 2005 Lifesaving Award, the 2005 Sons of the American Revolution Law Enforcement Award, 2002 Exceptional Performance Award and 2001 Valor Award.
In addition to being a 13 year veteran of the Delaware State Police he was an 18 year veteran of the Delaware Air National Guard.
